MySQL Comparison Operators

The comparison operators are used to compare two values. The outcome of these operators is either true or false. If outcome is true then row/record is read else discarded. Below is the list of comparison operators in MySQL.

  1. Equality (=)

  2. Non-equality(<>)

  3. Less-than and Lesser/equal to values (<,<=)

  4. Greater-than and greater/equal to values(>,>=)

MySQL Comparison Operators Example

Creating table for demonstrating comparison operators

CREATE TABLE EMP

ENAME VARCHAR(10),

JOB VARCHAR(9),

MGR NUMERIC(4),

HIREDATE DATE,

SAL NUMERIC(7,2),

CONSTRAINT PK_EMP PRIMARY KEY(EMPNO)

);

INSERT INTO EMP VALUES (7369,'SMITH','CLERK',7902,'1980-12-17',800);

INSERT INTO EMP VALUES (7499,'ALLEN','SALESMAN',7698,'1981-2-20',1600);
